Week in Review:
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Week 6 is in the books, and the sun is shining. God is good all the time; all the time, God is good! It has been so neat watching our young scientists working with homemade microscopes, our Spanish language learners learning to salsa dance while physically distanced, and our youngest students being inspired by their teachers. St. Mary’s has some truly special moments happening in our school. In my Friday email, I also sent some important information, so be sure to read that as well. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend filled with relaxation and quality time with family and friends. Be sure to take some time to read the rest of this post and get the important news. God Bless!
If you want to get an inside peek into life at the school, check the slideshows on my Google Classroom page.
Need to Know:
- Picture Day is Coming:
On Thursday, October 1st, we will be holding our school picture day. Teachers will be sending home information on how to order pictures for your student(s). - Clean Mask and Water Bottle:
Please be sure to send your child to school with a clean water bottle and at least 2 clean masks. Student masks often become dirty or wet during the day and may need to be changed. Please be sure to send your student with two clean masks every day. We are trying to do everything we can to keep our school and our students as clean and safe as possible. - It’s a Team Effort:
Please continue to practice and reinforce safe and healthy practices in the home to minimize risk and exposure to COVID-19 AND other germs and illnesses that come our way.
Nice to Know:
- Important News from our School Counselor:
It has been great seeing all of the students back at school this week! As we are settling back into the school routine, I wanted to let parents know that this year I will be presenting the Signs Of Suicide (SOS) program this fall, which is earlier than the past two years. Parents of students in 6th-8th grades have been sent letters with more information, however, I would like to offer the parent information night to any parents that are interested, regardless of what grade their students are in. Please see the flyer below for more information and click HERE to complete the sign-up form. I am also including a link to some resources from the SOS program, including recent webinars that may be of interest to parents. Please click HERE to view the webinar information and HERE to see the flyer. - News from our Nurses:
Our wonderful nurses from St. Alphonsus have created a helpful and informative document to help families decide if it is prudent to send their child to school when they may be ill. Please click HERE to read his important document.

Wisdom from Our Young Scholars:
- When entering a classroom, a bunch of students greeted me by saying, “Hi Mr. Olmes”. One of the students was being particularly protective of his class and said, “What are YOU doing here!” I had to chuckle because it was so cute!!!
