Greetings St. Mary’s Families and Happy Spring!
I hope you had a wonderful Spring Break!
March 17th was a very productive Professional Development Day. After a detailed discussion of the calendar for the fourth quarter of the school year, teachers broke up into focused committee groups. The faculty collaborated to help develop initiatives to improve the school experience for next year. We will continue our work in these groups at our next PD Day, April 28th. By that time we will have our spring MAP test data to dig into as well.
Congratulations to our athletes who participated in the Idaho Catholic Schools Invitational Basketball Tournament the weekend of March 17th! Our fifth/sixth grade girls team took 3rd place in their division. Two St. Mary’s girls combined with the third grade St. Mark’s team to earn 2nd place. Four of our boys, combined with a fourth grade St. Mark’s team, won first place. We’re so proud of the hard work and sportsmanship shown by these athletes representing our school!
This week we will recognize our Hallisey Basketball players as well as our third quarter Honor Roll students after Mass on Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday of this week are Noon Release/Conference days. These conferences are “as needed”. Teachers may have reached out to you for a conference, or you may reach out to your child’s teacher. After care will be offered both days from 12:00-3:45 with Ms. Hailey in the gym.
Earlier this month I stated my top three priorities as interim principal: reassure students, support teachers and staff, and provide open communication. St. Mary’s students are feeling happy and cared for. Teachers are geared up for a strong fourth quarter. The school leadership team and faculty have been reaching out to families in person, through email, and over the phone to answer questions and keep lines of communication open.
On Tuesday of this week, our school’s leadership team will gather and on Wednesday, the school’s Advisory Board will meet. After those meetings we will be sending out a plan based on tentative enrollment. If you haven’t already done so, I would strongly encourage you to register your child for next year as soon as possible. I truly believe that with your commitment in registering your children, and our faculty’s resolve, St. Mary’s will be set for an exceptional 2023-24 school year.
I hope your week is off to a great start.
Most Sincerely,
Merrideth Dressler
