Weekly Newsletter – August 9, 2024
Dear Parents,
We are within a week of the start of school. I hope your summer was wildly exciting, relaxing, and filled with great memories.
At the start of the year, it is important we reflect on the mission of St. Mary’s.
Our mission:
St. Mary’s School is to provide a Catholic environment that instills academic excellence while preparing the whole child for life-long personal and spiritual growth, empowering them to become global citizens.
The school office is open this week and next before the first day of school. Mrs. Renee Anton very kindly organized the used uniforms. Please stop by if you are looking for something.
Please note, the first day of school for 1st through 8th grade is Thursday, August 15. It is a half day and a holy day of obligation. Students will be asked to come in mass dress for the day. We will be spending time learning about their teachers, classroom policies and procedures as well as attending Mass. Students will be released at 12:00.
Our Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten will start August 19th. These students will have a half day on the 19th.
The school signage has been replaced. Thank you to Mr. Anton for leading the charge. If you get the chance to drive by at night, the letters illuminate!
As we begin the new school year, we continue to strive to keep everyone informed and involved at St. Mary’s. While last year was a very successful year, we want to be better. Perfect is boring. We always want to be moving towards “better”.
In addition to our St. Mary’s Special Events, this year we are celebrating our 75th anniversary as a school. St. Mary’s School has been an important part of the Boise and Catholic community since 1949. We are in the process of planning a number of special events to recognize and celebrate this milestone which not only includes our current families and parish, but the thousands of alumni who had their lives shaped by being a Spartan. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
