Weekly Newsletter – August 24, 2024
Dear Parents,
Please plan on attending our Back to School Night for parents tonight, Tuesday, August 20th from 6:00-7:30. Please come to hear about our goals and dreams for the upcoming year and meet your students’ teachers. PTO will be there to talk about the events for the year. The evening will begin at 6:00 with a school wide address held in the Pre-K play area. Afterwards, you will get the chance to visit the teachers in their classrooms.
We are excited about our bi-lingual Mass and Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 24th. Please plan on attending the student-led Mass at 5:00 pm, followed by the Back to School Bash at 6:00 pm sponsored by the PTO.
It has been a tremendous start to the school year. That being said, it is important to remember, change is uncomfortable. No matter the age of your student(s), the transition back to school is hard. We are here to help the students and families.
All of us know that drop-offs for the next few weeks may be challenging and for some students, school reluctance might settle in at home. We can expect highs and lows over the next several weeks as students settle into a routine. A few tips/reminders to help us all:
-
For Parents: Change is hard. Your child may have highs, lows and everything in between. Emotional outbursts may be common. No one is doing anything wrong, it is part of the process. We are here to help.
-
Reminders for Home: School reluctance is normal. Parents’ job is not to convince the children to go to school. It is better to hear them, validate their feelings, and reassure them it won’t always feel like this. A good conversation starter can be “Is there something I can do to help you until it feels easier?”
-
Teachers and Staff: The teachers and staff are here for you and your family. We want to help your student(s) feel confident and successful at school and at home. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns.
Partnership Page – St. Mary’s wants to continue to strengthen our community. Many of our parents and parishioners are business owners. We want to support and promote our community and their endeavors. Before you head out shopping or look for contractors, please check our partnership page first. We are consistently adding new relationships to the page. I would encourage you to mark the page as a favorite and check back often. If you are interested in having your business highlighted, please submit your information to Ms. Mandy @ amcampanella@stmarys-boise.org
