Weekly Newsletter – November 1, 2024
Dear Parents,
Thank you…..
…For coming to parent-teacher conferences. It was a wonderfully positive experience to partner and collaborate on behalf of our students. I feel blessed to work in a school with such a strong partnership between parents and the teachers.
…To the PTO for a wonderful Trunk or Treat. Thank you to the organizers and volunteers. It takes all of us to continue these traditions that make St. Mary’s the special place it is.
…To everyone who voted for St. Mary’s as Boise Favorites – Private School. We will not know the results until March. I do not know why it takes so long. I appreciate all of you that took the time to cast your vote, some of you daily or even multiple times each day.
…For choosing to be a part of the St. Mary’s community. Go Spartans!

Friday, November 1 – Mass Dress – Holy Day – All Saints’ Day
Congratulations to Bishop Kelly Soccer – This past weekend the Bishop Kelly Boys and Girls Soccer teams competed in the State Championship. St. Mary’s is particularly proud of our former Spartans, now Knights: Liam Running, Simon, Brotman, Hadley Beckley, Beatrice Grant, and Anna Olmos.
Go Knights! Go Spartans!
Good Luck Bishop Kelly Football – Knights play in the State tournament this Friday at Bishop Kelly at 7:00 pm against Pocatello.
The Day of the Dead – For those who are new to St. Mary’s, Dia de los Muertos is an ancient Mesoamerican, mostly Mexican, old tradition that honors our family and friends that have died. We celebrate the 1st and 2nd of November that is also related to our Catholic traditions of “All Saints day” and “All souls day”.
An Altar at church will be set up and decorated with marigolds, candles, water, food, images of Christ, the Virgin, kids’ art and pictures of the people that have died. We dedicate this Altar to them, it’s a special place for us to pray for them and with them celebrate the life and love that they shared with us.
Festival of Trees – Denim – Miss Hailey Yraguen is heading up the St. Mary’s – Festival of Trees entry. The theme of the tree is the same as our Gala, Diamonds and Denim. We are requesting donations of denim, blue or white. If you happen to have an old pair of jeans or a well worn jacket, please consider contributing to our cause.
Altar Serving – St. Mary’s is one interconnected community that grows and thrives as we cooperatively work together.
We are looking for a student or two that would be willing to serve at the 10:45 Mass. (We could use a couple more at 8:30 Sunday morning as well)
The time spent serving can count towards the students’ service learning hours as well as family’s volunteer hours. If you are interested, please contact the front office or Mr. Jaszkowiak at jjaszkow@gmail.com
Dia de los Muertos – JUMP – November 2nd at 5:00 pm. – Attend JUMP on November 2nd at 5:00 pm, you will not be disappointed with the festivities. The St. Mary’s Mexican Dance group will be performing approximately 5:30-5:45 pm.
