Dear Families,
October is a month full of events and activities. Please be sure to review the school calendar. In addition to the calendar, I would like to highlight a few upcoming and past events:
- October 6 – Teacher Inservice – No School
- October 26/27 – Parent Teacher Conferences – Early Release (Oct. 26) and No School (Oct. 27) – More information coming soon
- Next week is Bishop Kelly’s homecoming. St. Mary’s alumni will be here on Thursday, Oct 12th to lead the school in cheer. We will have our own celebration by wearing Spirit Wear all next week (with the exception of Wednesday, Mass Dress). On Friday students are allowed to wear Black and Gold or other BK spirit wear they may have. Dress code rules concerning appropriate school attire apply.
- Good luck to our fifth and sixth graders as they head to McCall and MOSS. It is a great week filled with learning that should peak their curiosity about a place they may be familiar with. Safe travels.
- Thank you to all of you who took the time to complete the Climate and Culture survey. The feedback is very important to all of us as we work to continuously improve our school and our community. We are in the process of compiling the results from the families, students and teachers to discuss our next steps.
- Students in grades 2 through 8 completed our Fall MAP testing last week. Twice a year we complete tests in Reading, Language Usage, Math and Science. MAP tests are not standardized tests. They are progressive in nature. The purpose of using MAP is not to measure achievement, but to track our students for growth in the areas above from year to year and season to season. This is an article explaining MAP testing. We will send student reports home shortly.
- Mass on Wednesday was a great celebration of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. Father John reminded us to “Follow Jesus” in all we do, like St. Francis. It is fitting as we focus on St. Mary’s students are Friends this month and we are reminded about the importance of being Friends with Jesus.
- It has been great to see all of the families at Prayer Square and Wednesdays’ Mass. You are always invited to join us.
Thank you again for all your support and encouragement. God bless.
